Cross Culture Network connects international students and scholars with the American community at large. Florin and Amy Palaghia began their work with CCN in 2006. Florin came to the US in 1995 as an international student from Romania and he uniquely understands the challenges that students face as well as the importance of positive connections with new friends in the United States.

Each year we plan a variety of activities and events through the school year and summer.  We kick off the beginning of each school year with our Southern Hospitality Banquet.  This is a fun time for international students from several area colleges and universities to gather together with some Americans to learn about each other and to highlight upcoming CCN activities.  Most students will have only been in country a week or so.  In years past we have enjoyed returning international students performing music and giving testimonies of their experiences with CCN.

At this event students fill out contact sheets that allow students to let Amy and Florin know about additional assistance that they may need and also learn about upcoming activities.

 Past activities have included:

  • Hiking at Table Rock, Fishing at Lake Hartwell,

  • Trips to Washington, Biltmore House, Orlando Fla., Charleston SC and Atlanta Ga.

  • Movie nights, Round table discussions, Game nights

  • Stories of Jesus

  • Bible Study

  • Just Us Girls, in Clemson and Greenville

  • Community Musical performances, Plays, Holiday gatherings

  • Annual Joshua's Way Thanksgiving Meal

  • Community Service projects

  • Cultural dinners where the students cook the meal.

Periodically we have people that call us to donate used furniture to students.  When this happens, we send out an email to the students on our distribution list, and then the furniture is given away on a first come, first served basis.  We will make arrangements to have the furniture delivered to the student.

If you would like to donate furniture, contact Florin at

When possible, we try to help students who need a ride to the airport or to a local business or store.  If you would like to help us with transportation, please let us know. August is a busy time for picking up newly arriving students from the airport.  The first personal greeting into our community impacts the students for a life time.

We know that many times international students are in need of a used car but may not know where or how to locate one.  If you have a car you would like to donate or sell, please contact us.

Florin also assists students with getting their American driver's license.
